Malady to Magnificence
A child of unknown bandit parents from Boughbury now known as the Redbelly Hive, Millie was cursed with Mycosis, a particularly malevolent branch of Greenwrath. This would cause varying amounts of fungus to grow about her body, steadily sapping nutrients and strength from her whilst keeping her alive with their aether. This would cause her to become mostly isolated from regular contact within the encampment except for a few other children who suffered varying diseases via Greenwrath.
Because of her symbiotic relationship with fungus, the Redbelly clan vowed to “keep the stinky ankle-biter away from noses.” She was taught archery as to keep her enemies at a distance so she's not discovered so easily during their so-called “provisioning.” Luckily her teachings in underhanded tactics came natural enough to allow her to slip away closer to Gridania, and eventually into the hands of a farmer's family that happened to find pity on her condition.
A few years into her teens, she finally found herself in New Gridania. She took favor to Stillglade Fane, the home for Conjurers as their teachings were relative to her underlying condition. Although she wasn't allowed many social graces, she enrolled in schooling there not knowing that conversing with the Elementals as they taught would allow her reprieve from her condition.
As she became older, she found herself within the company of bandits yet again as this was most of what she knew to be a member of society. She had been involved in multiple highwayman incidents near Gridanian villages. This life of crime would catch up to her as she was finally captured at the West Thanalan border. As punishment, she was extradited to Thanalan and made to quarry one of the many mines in the desert as a laborer.
During this time, she noticed the Greenwrath's grip on her was all but gone; the effects of the disease dissipated under the desert sun. As her sentence ended, she continued in quarrying for quite some time and made a name for herself as a particularly keen prospector. Skillful as ever in her occupation, she felt empty; why continue to go on in work that you were doing in the gaol of all places?
This would change one fateful day while strolling around South Shroud's swampland. She discovered a stray black kitten wallowing on the edge of the gully. She claimed this ornery kitten as her own naming him Rizzah, king of the river.
Years later, she slowly finds herself among society not as someone cursed with stinky mushrooms growing about their body, but a productive, even favorable member of it as social graces came with her malady waning. Still, she does often find herself delving into the dregs…
