The story of the character's origins

Tumet Orphan

Felyna doesn't speak much of her tribal past or why she chose to flee her tribe, although anyone familiar with xaelic traditions could take a guess from her more elezen-sounding name that she ran away from the Tumet tribe before reaching the age of ten. Fortunately for both her and her younger sister, they were found in the Azim Steppes by a pair of duskwights who had chosen to leave Eorzea and come into the untamed wilderness of Othard instead.

Safe and physically healthy with her new family, Felyna struggled with enough skills that she started developing a failure complex - particularly in the field of magic which she proved completely incapable of, despite the fact her sister (now named Namiriya) proved to be a natural. Where she did, excel, though was fine metalwork (a rare practice given the lack of anything in the Steppes) and more combat-oriented skills, particularly stealth. As such, when she decided to leave the Steppes and her family in her late-teens; she ended up heading south to make use of these particular talents.

A Butcher in Doma

Doma had become a bleak place by the time Felyna arrived there, having fallen under Garlean rule with a quieter guerilla campaign underway to unshackle the land from its oppressor. Believing herself to have few other ways to make a living in the country, Felyna inserted herself as a blade for hire, in theory being a neutral participant but due to the language barrier of not actually speaking that much Doman at the time she largely took work from the Empire.
