Rin was raised in a small farming village in Doma called Yatori. It was so small and unexciting, that even the occupying Garleans there grew bored of harassing the citizens, and eventually just became a slightly rude part of everybody's day-to-day life as the soldiers realized they would never be called upon for anything substantial. For Rin, the Garleans were a rare source of information about the outside world, if they were drunk enough to want to chat. Their drunken stories were one of Rin's only tastes of life outside the nowhere-village.
Since a child, Rin has been interested in two things: alchemy and stories. Well, she'll say she was interested in alchemy, but she hardly knew what it was. She would gather up various ingredients from the village, such as leaves, berries, and water, and create mock potions. Even as she grew, she never lost this habit and even managed to experiment her way to actually useful tinctures as she reached her teenage years.
The stories she enjoyed were those of daring acts of chivalry and heroism. She came to adore stories of people traveling the world, known and unknown, just for the sake of helping others, and strived to be like that one day. Alas, her mother would not share the ancient art of Nymian scholars that she had in her possession, and her father had renounced his pugilist gauntlets when she was born.
Her parents were not unaware of her desire to travel and do good. She was hardworking, finding a job as young as she could, in the hopes of one day being able to leave Yatori and explore the world properly. When she turned twenty-one, her parents approached her with a proposition: they would fund her living in another nation(with a sizeable saving of coin her father had won in Ul'dah's Coliseum prior to coming to Doma) as long as she studied and learned something of their choosing. She was told to go to Ishgard and learn Astrology.
Rin doesn't know why she was bid to learn Astrology, but she didn't care. Even though Astrology was not in her field of interest, she would be a fool not to take up such a generous offer to fulfill her dreams by exploring the world. Plus, she even convinced her parents to allow her to travel to Ul'dah on weekends to study in it's Alchemist's Guild. So, that summer, she bid farewell to Yatori, accompanied by her mother's fairy familiar as a chaperone, and started her journey of self-discovery.

She will listen to and engage with your unskippable dialogue.
Her scales seem…unnatural, somehow, like something is affecting their composition.
