Quick TLDR:
Summer is a Half-Siren to the now lost Sweetsong lineage. She's a bit of a goofball. She always has way too much energy for her own good, loving every moment of life. Even more so when she's drinking. And due to her Aether being so heavily skewed towards water, she can take a lot before even getting tipsy. Summer comes off as very polite to strangers, but once you get to know her, the playful tease comes out. She frequently will make suggestive comments to people and has a dirty mind at times. She used to joke about how single she is. However, she recently managed to get a girlfriend somehow. She still may joke about herself in that regard, but will definitely get flustered afterwards. She owns all kind of manga that she bought from Kugane, keeping it hidden in her underground grotto. If you ever want a good conversation starter, talk about any kind of alcohol or manga, and you'll get her attention immediately.
As for what she does, she is a student at a Gridanian Public School, an aspiring Cullinarian, and a very potent healer. She prefers to not fight, but will to defend her friends. Though, she may spar for sport rarely. Recently, she's picked up being a maid in her free time, serving food she cooks to whoever walks up and asks for it. However, she has been struggling through severe mental health issues after everything continues to get worse for her. She is doing better, but could break down very easily. She has been doing her best to get past her woes. As such, she's found herself drinking not to get away from the pain, but to be loud and have fun.
If you want a long-term plot involving your character and Summer, we can talk in-game about it in an OOC context.
I am not Summer, Summer isn't me. Though I have no issues getting to know you better OOC.
Now the NOT TLDR:
The Sweetsong family began around 14,000 years ago, when the first Siren of the Sweetsong lineage emerged from the waters of what is now Sirensong Sea. Compared to the Sirens of folklore, the First Siren lived a more peaceful life, living among the people of Orthard as one of them. In particular, as a healer, due to the creation of a water substance that could heal most wounds and rejuvinate anyone who even came in contact with it. The First Siren eventually settled down with an Au Ra, mixing Siren and Au Ra blood. However, their child had no abilities even related to being a Siren. They were completely Au Ra. 20 generations later, however, a new Siren appeared, though due to the Au Ra blood, were a Half-Siren. From there on, every 20 generations would see the rise of a Siren, marked by a glowing Halo above their head at birth, with other features and powers developing as their lives progressed. 6 Sirens of different kinds have existed: Oceanic Sirens, who dwell in the calm waters of the open sea. Infernal Sirens, who reside deep underground in Hells' Lid. Blood Sirens, who found home in forests and ponds with close relation to hemomancy. And Abyssal Sirens, who reside in the deepest depths of the ocean where the light doesn't reach.
Fast forward to the modern day, and an Au Ra was born in New Gridania with a glowing blue Halo, marking her as the Seventh Siren of the Sweetsong lineage, and the third of the Oceanic Sirens. By now, the name ‘Sweetsong' was lost to time. Even in the history books it does not exist, for their past is a closely guarded secret. Summer’s parents were Veterans from the Calamity, her mother serving as a Black Mage on the front line, with her father a White Mage who worked in medical wards. As a result, Summer was very adept in both White and Black magic, the perfect candidate for a Red Mage. Her parents began to teach her the ropes of casting magic, though the fear of her Siren abilities suddenly awakening was a growing concern. Because of all this, Summer never attended school, and was only taught very basic math and how to read and speak both Hingan and Eorzean.
Her childhood was otherwise rather normal until the age of 12, the first signs of her “Awakening” had begun to show: a yearning for the sea. To let her live her life, her parents were (for some reason) ok sending their child to Limsa Lominsa, and after only a few months of living on the street, getting by every day by stealing, Summer was roped into a band of pirates. However, they gave sympathy to the child, treating her as a little sister to the entire crew. She sailed with them for 4 years. She saw crew members come and go, but the constant on that ship was her Captain. He was like a second father to Summer. He taught her how to survive. How to use her rapier, how to cook, and how to steal like a true pirate. Her newfound home crumbled after those 4 years, when a terrible storm off the coast of Doma had taken the ship under. The Captain, wrapping Summer in his arms, shielded her from the physical force of the wreck and sacrificing himself for her. And it was after that incident that the next part of her abilities began to appear, for she could breathe water as if it was air. For days, she floated adrift in a coma before washing up in Yanxia with nothing but her rapier, the clothes on her back, and her captain's tattered coat. The locals found her and rushed to her aid, nurturing her back to health. From them, she learned the art of ninjutsu, as well as further techniques to further her cullinarian interests.
This brings us to today, 6 years since the wreck. Summer has fully awaken to part of her Siren powers. The Halo is no longer her only defining trait, for her draconic tail turning now that of a fish's. She's begun to learn more about the Sirens, their past, and what their purpose is. Summer has slowly began to awaken the abilities of her ancestors, unlocking the abilities of her Infernal ancestor as an additional “form” so to speak. The powers of her forms are mutually exclusive, though she can switch between them once a day. Among the abilities she has, 3 stand out. A: her swim speed is subsonic. She can get from Ul'Dah to the Mist in about 5 minutes by swimming. B: her elemental affinity. Depending on which form she's in, her elemental balance shifts completely. When taking on her Oceanic abilities, she is 100% water aligned, and any spell cast will be transmuted to water. Same case for Infernal abilities. C: healing water. Summer can create a substance called ‘Life Water,’ which when it comes in contact with any living creature, heals them of almost any wounds (outside diseases, severed limbs, and curses) and completely refills their energy. Outside of her Siren duties, she's taken up school, finding a tutor to help her at a public middle school in Gridania. She wishes to eventually graduate high-school before going to Sharalyan to study in the Faculty of Medicine as a culinarian.
