Viola Is💠She/They💠Asexual💠Lesbian💠Polyamorous
Personality
Viola is cheerful, positive, and friendly. Discovering her white magic as a child and being raised in a tight-knit community gave her a strong sense of duty. Specifically, she feels the need to heal or otherwise help as many people as she can, anyone she sees who’s in trouble. She has a tendency to overextend herself as a result.
Viola is mute, but this by no means implies shyness or a lack of things to say. She is fluent in Common Sign, Huntspeak, and Veena Sign, and can communicate with those who don't know sign via the Echo or a writing tablet.
Her favorite food is eggs. She likes to greet friends with an offering of a single boiled egg.
Sometimes she likes to mess with people by just staring at them in silence with her big, dark eyes.
Background
Many years ago, a Veena Viera couple, who had left their lands and were subsequently exiled, stumbled upon a Moon Miqo’te hunting party in The Black Shroud. The hunters had underestimated their quarry and faced certain death, which would in turn lead to the starvation of their clan. The Viera women came to their aid, and together, they turned the tide of the battle. After saving the clan, they were welcomed in.
Viola was raised by these Viera, who named her in the Viera tradition. She grew up immersed in Keeper culture, but also learned Veena culture from her mothers.
As she aged, it became clear that she was unable to speak. She can hear fine, and perform other vocalizations, but cannot utter words. Her clan quickly taught her huntspeak and common sign. She also showed signs of white magic proficiency as a child. At first, she tried to cast white magic using her own aether. The strain of this mistake left parts of her hair permanently bleached.
Her clan had many run-ins with the Gridania’s Wood Wailers when she was young, and most were unpleasant. Viola developed a distrust for Gridania, but when she grew up, she had little choice but to seek out Gridania’s Conjurer’s Guild to properly train her magic.
She decided that if she was going to learn healing magic, she might as well become an adventurer and leave the Shroud and Wood Wailers behind. She promised herself she’d go out and see the world once her training was complete. Her mothers and clan were very proud and supportive, and she writes home to them often.
Once Viola's training was complete, she indeed travelled the world, and found herself in Coerthas and Dravania in the late years of the Dragonsong War. Ishgard came to be a second home to her. Viola fell in love with a heretic, who later lost her life in the conflict despite Viola's ardent efforts to protect her. Viola carries on as a travelling healer in her honor.
