Odsar Vanora Tuva was born as a single child to a Sea Wolf father, Skoefikiem Grinabarsyn, and her Xaela Au Ra mother, Suki Tuva in breezy Limsa Lominsa. The couple met whilst Skoefikiem was at port in Doma with The League of Lost Bastards in a break from the storms ahead and Suki was a traveling Black Mage. They met in a small open-air bar while Skoefikiem was reciting poetry and fell in love instantly. Despite Suki eventually admitting she was a lesbian and was in several relationships, Skoefikiem adored her and allowed Suki to keep with it, as long as she helped raise their future child. Odsar was raised by her mother almost full-time as Skofikiem was at sea with his fellow sea pirates alongside Bloefhis Bloefhisyn. Despite seemingly disappearing for months at a time, he always returned swiftly to his newborn’s side when he could, relieving Suki to her own devices. She was raised normally despite the strange co-parenting, but despite it all, they made it work. Suki constantly taught Odsar Doman culture and traditions while he was away and at times, brought her with when she was able to walk on her own. When Skoefikiem had time with her, he’d take 5 year old Odsar to sea and eventually meeting 11 year old Merlwyb on deck with her father.
The two got along as best as they could with their 6 year age gap, causing mayhem for the pirates and their fathers alike. One night, when 10 year old Odsar and Suki were at home whilst Skoefikiem was at sea, they had gotten wind of the ship’s early arrival at to dock and headed down to greet him in the late hours of the night. Once they arrived, they were greeted with the sight of men and women with grave injuries scattered amongst the crew. Not even Bloefhis himself was spared from the masses, his body laced with minor wounds. Suki and Odsar sat and waited as the varied injured pirates came out, everyone but Skoefikiem. They both lowered their heads in preparation to see Llymlaen’s drapery over his body, but to their surprise, he stumbled out with his entire face wrapped tight, blood still seeping and pouring. Odsar ran to hug him as if nothing was wrong before Suki took her and brought her home, staring into Skoefikiem’s one free eye. Time passed before Odsar could see him again, but when she could her father looked like a different man. Skoefikiem had reported having gotten into a fight with opposing fleets along with the rest of the crew, one wrong swing of his axe caused him to peel and skin nearly half his face to the muscle whilst in the fight. Odsar wasn’t scared of him and enjoyed his humor as she played with the scarring and ugly healing, not seeing a difference. Though, Suki didn’t seem to enjoy this as much and became distant in their parenting.
Skoefikiem fought for his life on the sea and now land, and once recovered decided to leave the pirate life behind and became a full-time fisherman and the occasional cartographer. Little Odsar helped more and more around Limsa Lominsa with him, whilst Suki spent more and more time in Doma and Ul’dah. Then, nearly a month or so after Odsar’s 12 birthday, Skoefikiem succumbed to his grave injuries from two years prior, showing his cause of death to be lingering sepsis. This mixed with his failing eyesight was only bound to cause his demise, yet Odsar was next to him the entire time, even when Suki advised her not to. He told Odsar to follow through and be a good strong woman, reminding her that pirate blood runs in her veins and that she’s getting too tall so maybe she should look for a good seamstress. He gifted Odsar his favorite set of rings, which she later had turned into her horn cuffs. Suki quickly remarried into Ul’dan wealth when Odsar was just shy of 13 into a family of Monetarists.
Olar and his two sons, Okin and Yeke were all raised on the Azim Steppe with their deceased wife. Suki met them whilst on her travels and got engaged to Olar as soon as Skoefikiem passed, raising several red flags to Odsar. Most of her upbringing was riddled with various abuse within her home, the force to be a Paladin from day 1 to compete with Okin and Yeke, leading to inner conflict as a child. It led her to lean more toward her father and take up combat, turning into a gladiator. Since the punishments were harsh and bordering on cruel even for her group, Odsar learned a quick taste for rebellion and took on a dog-eat-dog mentality against her new father. She endured various types of abuse in her adolescence by her step-siblings per their father's wishes because he believed Odsar might be gay and wanted it handled before she was meant to be married at 17 to her 25-30 y/o Raen husband. It only reinstated Odsar’s dislike for Au-ra men but knew she had to give it a chance for the sake of her own family.
Odsar spent most of her time traveling into the city walls with her family, causing her to spend more time with Momodi Modi as a child, seeing her as a more stable parental figure since her mother was in and out of their life with her job class training. Her father and sons were usually accompanying her on most of these trips, as they all were meeting with Lolorito for the eventual takedown of the current Sultan. She became close with Momodi and soon spent most of her time with her, learning the stories and lore of Ul'dah. Growing into her adulthood, Odsar was given the chance to study abroad in Ishgard for college. Seeing it as a way to escape, she took the chance to be a part of the Scholasticate, soon remeeting childhood/family friends and rekindling the flame they once had while raised in Ul'dah. She was a diligent student while there, not missing any kind of classes or events even if they weren't needed, just going get out of her tiny dorm and mingling with her peers. This, at times, only solidified a growing anxiety of hers, the lingering queer feelings. Not much time after graduating, Odsar was forced to move back home as Olar insisted he had found her the "perfect match and seed" for her.
Soon meeting the other Au Ra male from her family’s courtship named Grizhen Orl, she was thrown into this relationship and married against her own will to appease the Monetarists, and after 2 years of continued abuse, she used her father’s skills and her own time out in the field to stab him through the back, and sliced down his stomach in a mock suicide, showing to be similar to Seppuku. Her mother aided in hiding the body due to her remorse and neglect to help and insisted Odsar leave home and use her history training as a gladiator to survive. She took this chance to leave her family and ill home behind and move to Ul’dah, per her mother's wishes.
Before leaving, she ditched any of the heirlooms that may tie her back to the past, except for a single locket with her mother and her's photos from childhood along with Skoefikem’s last momentos, scrap clothing and nearly cutting off all of her hair, wanting to ignore the unchanging past. She traveled into Ul'dah and sought comfort from Momodi and started her time as a paladin. She chose Odsar as an alias to live underneath while on the run from her murder and past life.
Cue A Realm Reborn
This takes place during Shadowbringers
Years later while traveling she became a full fledged adventurer with her childhood friend now husband Cemi'a. (Odsar is 45, Cemi'a is ~48 at this time.) The two made a set of Tanks willing to charge headfirst into a fight, whether it be bar fights or primals, they stayed with each other. While on the road they teamed up for the Seat of Sacrifice. While in combat, Odsar mistook her footing and was taken down mid-combat. Collapsing on her right side, the on-guard White mage rescued her and Odsar continued the fight until the very end.
When exiting Cemi'a made the realisation that Odsar was struggling more-so to walk than before. He scooped her up and went back to their home as quickly as Aether travel could take them. Odsar was seen by the same White Mage and was determined she had broken her right hip and shattered her right knee during the fight with Elidibus. Once she got proper care, Odsar was down from adventuring as she healed, taking time to help others in her step-family and close friends work on their own venues before she learned she could no longer fight. Nearly 33 years of combat as a Paladin washed to nothing.
Yet, Odsar wasn't seemingly bothered by it all, but took it as a chance to begin to see old friends and sights once more, no longer restrained to battle times. Though she now had to walk with a cane due to her knee and hip not fully setting and healing properly, she began a new journey forward. The same journey she had to watch through her father 35 odd years prior. While in her 'Retirement' she lends a hand to Illdyshire to help study and preserve their own unseen primal, Alexander. Becoming her main passion and workforce, she aids in guiding, rescuing, and analyzing each moving and living part of this mech. Using her time as a Free Paladin to inch her way through and breakdown what's needed, she spends almost all of her time there aiding Slowfix and other goblins of the same field in hopes to preserve, not destroy, this intelligent being.
