Be warned that Rose's backstory is something most have to learn about through interaction and story telling in scenes. They are not hiding it per se, but great effort has been taken to present the illusion that they are much younger than they actually are. As such, the backstory that is in italics is slightly fabricated and anything in regular text is what a person could find through asking connections and such.
Roselle does not talk much about their childhood. They mention a brother now and then and a few scant details about their affiliation with the Veena tribes but little is known about them. After reaching majority, it is said they traveled to Kugane and studied under two mentors. One of which taught them the ways of the blade and the other of the courtesan.
While these details are vague, many are able to find remnants of these two teachers in their time in Kugane. Where Roselle really made a name for themself was when they traveled over the ocean and eventually arrived in Ul'dah.
When arriving in Ul'dah, Roselle began to make a name for themself. Establishing a small brothel with only a few clients and workers initially, they were able to leverage skill and expertise into a strong, intelligent work force that began to make splashes in all the right and wrong circles. And while the brothel eventually grew into a very high clientele, high class organization, Roselle had made a few enemies for themself.
Though most of those enemies disappeared under mysterious circumstances and others who were trying to speak up about the Viera were hard pressed to do so when a few notable charities were founded by the Xatron of the Courtesans. Managing to maintain an ‘above the board’ reputation, dangerous rumors still abound until services rendered to various members of the alliance rendered them beyond suspicions.
Alongside this, they were given a small grant of land in the Shroud and a respectable but small title which they leveraged into spending time in Ishgard. Over the years, until just after the most recent umbral calamity, Rose spent their time residing in various states and cities. And they adopted four children through those years. Perhaps two or three years prior to present day they slipped out of the day to day operations of their affairs and left it to a new chief of staff.
Few know where Rose disappeared to during those years, beyond their scarce appearances, but all who encountered them knew that they were different when they got back. All of those who knew them say that there was more caution to them and a stronger sense of… something powerful about them.
Perhaps equally strange was that during this disappearance time, Roselle did reemerge once or twice in Ishgard, seemingly married and happily abound. And, after a recent trip to the new world, Roselle has been seen sporting new glasses, whispers run rampant of their blindness.
These days, they have returned to the public eye in a manner of speaking. At present they have taken up a life of wandering as a masterless swordarm.
