OOC Preamble
Hi there! Thanks for checking out my character. If you're interested at all, don't be shy and feel free to reach out! My preferences are guidelines, and nobody has to match up perfectly to be a good fit. Contact me on Discord as zeemgeem . I am 24 and live in Canada - my timezone is EST. I speak English and ASL. My pronouns are she/her. LGBT+ friendly.
I am an RPer of 9 years looking to make long term connections with like-minded friends - with a focus on interesting and evolving character dynamics, storytelling with light adventure themes, grounded characters, in one on one settings and/or small scale groups. I'm a busy person, but my schedule is flexible with some notice, so I like to schedule my RP in advance. Chances are high I can adjust to your schedule easily. I prefer RPing in game, as I lose track easily when responding to discord scenes over the course of a day. My posts are descriptive and one to two paragraphs long, usually taking from 4 to 10 minutes depending on if my wrist tremors flare up - patience is appreciated. I also prefer to make friends OOC rather than only RPing with someone with no outside interaction. If that sounds like you, great! If you prefer one offs, short replies, big venues, walk-ups, or characters who can wrestle a primal, our styles are more likely to clash. I will DC travel and I expect my RP partners to be open to this as well.
The usual rules apply. Don't metagame, godmod, powerplay, OOC bleed, or kill my character, don't be the WOL or any established canon character or anyone from a different fictional universe or real life. I will not RP with you if your profile contains AI or stolen art. Try not to bring up extremely sensitive or uncomfortable subjects in RP without warning or asking me what's okay ahead of time, especially if you intend to involve my OCs directly. Yes, I would rather pause in the middle of an RP scene if such subjects come up naturally to clarify comfort limits. This list is not exhaustive but you get the point. I do not have strict standards but I expect replies to be legible and for the average reply to have more than just a couple words in it to work with as an RPer. I promise I'm nice but I have to put these boundaries somewhere. Thanks for understanding!
My code is (pending update) - my characters have lightly modded appearances, and are SFW. Please inform me of any NSFW visuals I might encounter on your character, RPhub page or Carrd etc. If there is any, ask first before linking with me. I always ensure continuity between my vanilla and modded appearances / glamours for the sake of those who do not use Mare, though some discrepancies may occur.
I am open to RP of all types. Friends, enemies, rivals, lovers - familiar faces my characters may have encountered in their past and complete strangers alike. I'm always happy to discuss options to find what works best! I'm okay with darker themes but prefer levity with lighthearted, casual, or generally “fun” scenes. I do not enjoy RP with a consistently dour mood. A good balance of plot progression and slice of life and a little action is ideal for me.
If you'd like to pursue romance, I am open to it, but I prefer if you bring it up to me OOC first - I probably won't pick up on any hints, and more importantly this is a young and inexperienced character, so I would like to handle that topic delicately should it come up. I like slow-burns, pairings which can help each other develop and grow, and prefer OOC getting to know each other first before making any commitments. No fem OCs (sorry, ladies!), no Lalafells, and no OCs under 18 or over 27, please. You as the player must also be over 18.
I believe in a show, don't tell approach - as a result, all character information below (excluding potential hooks) is limited to what someone could find out by asking around, or other public knowledge. You can find out more through RP, or feel free to ask me.
Note: For the sake of background consistency, this character operates on real time rather than the “time bubble”. However long ago ARR came out will be considered how long ago those events took place. Thus, it has been 17 years since the Calamity, and will be 18 years ago next Rising. (at the time of writing, 2025) While this will not come up often, it likely will come up eventually with long-term RP, as these events are important to this character and things become muddied down the line if major events are always just as recent despite the characters aging and growing as people in the meantime. (Further context in the history section.) If this is incompatible with your character or style of RP, you may want to let me know so we can mutually avoid bringing up any possible inconsistencies, which I believe can be done without missing out on too much. I don't mind just being a bit more vague on the timeline if I need to be! Thanks for understanding!
Appearance
Bright-eyed, bushy tailed, with a skip in her step and a cheeky smile on her face that never seems to fade. With eyes always darting around, looking for treasures that aren't hers to take. Sporting untamed hair, eternally dirty clothes, and a vicious pair of falchions which haven't seen a proper polishing in a decade. Put briefly - not the sort of woman you want lurking around without keeping one eye on your pockets and the other looking out for trouble.
Zizhi's Coerthan heritage is obvious at a glance - her skin is as pale as it comes, her tail fluffed up enough to appear twice its size, and her tendency to dress far lighter than just about anyone else would be comfortable with (despite the sunburns) could only ever point to Eorzea's coldest climates. Her skin is adorned from nearly head to toe with clan markings - not limited only to her face, unlike most Miqo'te. Supposedly, this oddity is said to be common within the Mi tribe by those who have met them. Zizhi seems to take great pride in them. Despite being in her early twenties, she has yet to fully grow into her ears.
As a wanderer of sorts, Zizhi tends to travel fairly light - her equipment and clothing consisting only of ragtag, mostly mismatched pieces which tend to be either well past their prime or suspiciously high-quality for someone of her insubstantial status and middling capital. Carried with her almost anywhere she goes are a few small accessories reminiscent of her tribe, pockets full of loose change, odd little keepsakes and spare glamour prisms, and a black, gold patterned headband serving to (mostly) keep her hair out of her eyes in lieu of any serious effort to comb it or keep it tied back. She never seems to be short on gil, despite her ongoing thieving habits and worn down old equipment.
Zizhi's odd accent, frequent misuse of the common tongue and occasional vocalizing in “huntspeak” seem to indicate a tribal upbringing isolated from the rest of Eorzea, likely only recently left behind.
Personality
Zizhi carries herself with an honest and easygoing demeanour - tail held high, just living in the moment with a free-spirited attitude towards life. Though she could be fairly described as a little lazy, a little bit blunt, or maybe more than a little self-centred, this Miqo'te isn't especially difficult to get along with…
… That is, until she happens to get particularly bored or particularly inspired. With the unfortunate combination of a knack for illusory magics and an insatiable kleptomaniac itch, Zizhi's primary hobby is constructing elaborate schemes to get away with taking whatever she pleases for herself, regardless of the monetary value or any real personal use. Whether swapping a family heirloom with a convincingly glamoured rock, faking a building going up in flames for a chance to wander around pocketing valuables while others flee, or constructing illusory beasts to terrorize a village before heroically arriving to ‘defeat’ them and claim the bounty where nobody else could, her little hobby might be a shocking turnabout if not seen coming. Naturally, the veil will always eventually fall, so Zizhi keeps few if any close companions and never stays in one place for long.
Consequentially, Zizhi tends to look down on those in positions of wealth or power - though rather than outright disdain, it seems a more general annoyance towards those she sees as trying to kill her fun, simply perceiving her acts of mischief and trickery as a game of sorts more than serious criminal acts. Notably, she seems adverse to any schemes that might actually endanger someone, her jagged blades only coming out when other options have been exhausted. Rarely do these schemes follow any patterns, though she has a particular interest in gems and other shiny trinkets.
Though almost always friendly (bizarrely, even when pulling her tricks) Zizhi tends to be less amicable to Garleans and Ishgardians, and perhaps might not pull her punches when playing out one of her tricks on them. Though not to the same extent, Zizhi seems to be wary of Seekers from the primary 26 tribes, generally staying out of their way if possible.
History
The Mi were once a moderately sized but fairly successful tribe, believed (but never confirmed) to have split away from the I many generations ago, carving out their territory in the mountain ranges between Coerthas and Dravania. Seeker tribes outside the primary 26 rarely find allies among larger tribes, and as such the Mi became solitary and unknown to the larger world, thought to have been wiped out entirely or scattered away from their home by the eternal frost that followed the Seventh Umbral Calamity. Zizhi found herself raised in the aftermath among a small population of survivors, determined but slowly dwindling in number. At the age of 18 the young woman assigned herself the task of venturing out into the wider world in search of something better than the frozen wastes and limited resources her people had been left with.
Miraculously, it would take only a short few years before the Mi tribe suddenly begun major expansions - willingly leaving their secluded lifestyle and from there rapidly opening trade with neighbouring communities, hiring guards and contractors, and expanding their territory with far more resources than such a small community should ever reasonably have at their disposal. It seems nobody knows for certain exactly how such a thing became possible, but certainly this small time thief was somehow responsible. Zizhi herself has rarely been seen around the tribe ever since.
