Occupying the crossroads between Gyr Abanian resourcefulness and the technology of Garlemald, Mehenilda (Henny, Nildy,or Nilda if she had any friends) grew up in the era of foreign rule over Ala Mhigo, and with widespread strife and sabotage, there was ever a surplus of junk to stoke the interests of a young girl. It all started with a thrown-out magitek toy, one which young Mehenilda learned to take apart and put back together through hours of trial and error, and before long she had graduated to bricolage.
The peculiar surname she bears is a legacy of the Mad King's age. In the waning era of pre-conquest Mhigan home rule, her family had been cast out of the towns, but as occupation dawned, yesterday's outcasts became helpful allies; people who were adept at living on the fringes of society. To the Garleans, they were all undesirables, but for years, the young woman was able to make a fair living in salvage and repairs, not minding delving into ceruleum-tainted battlefields to retrieve expensive machinery, and even rebuilding what the Empire didn't care about to create conveniences for the occupied people.
The Highland woman's magnum opus, however, is neither the custom gunblade she made with its rough weld marks, nor her collection of rifles, nor even the combination automated turnspit and modified flamethrower that makes such a satisfying kebab. Mehenilda's most prized creation is an unholy result of combining the operational power systems of a Predator and the drive train of a Roader, then mounting it to a heavily modified and nearly unrecognizable Reaper chassis. Granted, the Roader was missing a wheel and so it had to be done with two, rather than three, and sometimes the resulting machine will catch fire as it overheats, but Mehenilda is fiercely proud of the thing… when she isn't hurling expletives and wrenches at the troublesome conveyance.
