It's not every day you see a bookworm who fancies on-the-field studies, especially abroad, but Lucille's interest lies in a field that can only be learned overseas: Heroism. She doesn't quite know when it started, but Lucy— gifted as she is, couldn't find real satisfaction in her Aetherology studies, imposed upon her by her parents. A trip to Limsa Lominsa went awry, and being saved from that horrid situation at sea led her to want to learn about something that the Sharlayan education system couldn't teach her: how to understand and extend such altruism to the world over.
Such an ambitious- and frankly foolhardy dream would see its first steps towards reality when Lucille set off for Eorzea on the day of her supposed graduation, unbeknownst to her mother and father, who would learn of her departure by the time she had already touched face with her sister, who had also turned away from the peaceful (and frankly monotonous) life Mr. and Mrs. Starling wanted for their dear children. Capable and just as foolhardy as her younger sister, Maelstrom Captain Robyn Starling would do everything in her power to help train, protect, and provide for her dear sister during her extended stay in the “Land of Heroes”, as the bright-eyed blonde once called it.
Every soul tells a story of its own, and the blood of every Starling courses with hypermalleable aether of an unkown aspect which allows the departed souls of past affiliates of the family, defenders of the light, or any other interesting faces to be made manifest within a Starling's consciousness. Lucille bears the collective aether of herself and her sister Robyn, only making her more vulnerable to posession by these souls of the past, but she can draw upon the powers from these footnotes of history with relative ease in time, able to create nearly any technique of theirs— or of her own creation from scratch with time and dedication.
Never a dull moment for this nerd, one day she's assisting others as a Paladin, others she's helping folks with her homework, and on another, inching ever closer to having every single last class, job, and fighting style even slightly synonymous with heroism under her belt, and noted neatly within her theses for the world to see.
“Luminous Vestiges & Archetype: Argus”
The thing that separates a Starling from other clans, even with their near-to-nigh nonexistent status, is that whatever binding vow their ancestors put in place, the whole family— living or dead, has their own little pocket of the Aetherial Sea in which they reside. Lucy has done her best to keep the vestiges in control- physical manifestations of the more restless members of that very same Luminous Sea. A few have reached out to her in different ways, and have served to be a benefit in her studies of the world around her.
Alongside such a boon, there are its own limits, like willingness to keep a lethal relic weapon on one's person constantly, alongside the strain on one's consciousness that a fully autonomous train of thought independent of your own would have. Ironically enough, one of these Vestiges was Lucy herself. It's a long story, she'd do well not to retell it too many times. The long and short of it is, Lucille can call upon one such Vestige in the real world, one that can take the form of the jobs of others with enough time and training, or can take the form of jobs Lucille has currently mastered. She can mix her own class with the class of this ghostly ally, acting as two party members in tandem, or Lucille can infuse the Archetype into her own skillset.
