βThere's nothing I wouldn't do for you, Abby. Nothing. And I won't let you fall ere I do.β
Roric has not led an easy life - and yet, he is an old man in a young man's profession. Clearly, he has survived.
Often seen in the company of his adopted daughter, Abylnfheta Payne, the large highlander has an imposing presence. Purportedly, he and his battle buddy found her, a lone viera child, on the edges of a battlefield. Keenly aware of the myriad terrible ends she could suffer, they rescued her.

Voice
Though seldom one to speak unprompted, Roric's voice is thick with the accent of his homeland. Deep, rough, and gravelly, his lack of higher education is clear in his vocabulary.
Mannerisms
And yet his intellect and cunning is clear in his gaze. His single eye persistently shifting, his head on a swivel as he scans his surroundings.
Word on the Street
Roric is a respected member of Ul'dah's mercenary community, with decades of experience to his name. Regarded as a quiet but not unpleasant man, he spends a fair amount of time mingling with the Dalmascan expatriate community. Given his age, it's easy to guess that Roric was present during the Garlean invasion of Dalmasca.
OOC
Roric could probably use a heaping dose of therapy. Thankfully, I (mostly) don't. Feel free to approach me or message me or whatever. I'm not part of any sort of RP group. At present I have plenty of free time, and I'd be happy to pop in for a one-off.
I'll add here that Roric really has no notoriety of any sort. He's just some rando partisan who has lived as long as he has by being lucky and clever. He's got some training in hand to hand, some firearms experience, some experience with explosives, trap making - he's done a little bit of everything. He can handle himself in a fight against the average person, but if he's to work to his real strengths, he needs time to prepare the battlefield.
