Azim Steppe: Born and raised in the Steppe, loves and misses their home and family
Born in the Qalli tribe of the Steppe, Khaden was well-known and loved as a singer. Upon reaching adulthood, Khaden’s family encouraged them to see the world and share their voice with others. They were nervous about leaving but soon found themselves enjoying the company of so many new and different people. They traveled wherever they were able to find passage to and were even invited to sing at some events.
Khaden loved seeing the smiles their voice brought to the faces of their listeners. They eventually made their way to Eorzea where they met Cyric, a hyuran man. Khaden was happy to befriend the man, but Cyric was not satisfied with only friendship. Khaden strongly believed in being honest and truthful, and as such told Cyric that they had no romantic feelings towards him and were uninterested in a relationship. He was angry, but left.
[CW: Attempted murder]
Days later, while walking back to the inn room from a performance, Khaden was attacked. They do not remember much of it but those who witnessed it would not soon forget it. Cyric hid behind a wall and jumped out once Khaden had walked past. With a sharp blade, he attempted to slit their throat. He was restrained by some bystanders who stopped him from fleeing, while others hurried Khaden to a healer. Khaden survived, but their vocal cords were irreparably damaged.
Khaden was forced to accept that they would never be able to sing again, considering they could barely even speak at all. Traumatized, depressed, and fearful, Khaden locked themselves away for some time. They eventually made their way to Gridania where they became a Conjurer, initially hoping that they would be able to heal their vocal cords properly. They soon accepted that this would not be possible, but found a love for healing. They continued on to become a White Mage, and work to help others.
