H I S T O R Y
In the shadow of the Garlean invasion, Tsuruhime Kobayashi's story began amidst the tranquil shores of Othard, near the Ruby Sea. Born into a small tribe that revered the Kami, she grew up steeped in traditions of prayer and reverence. But as the Garlean threat loomed larger, hope waned, and desperation took root. When prayers to the Kami went unanswered and the darkness of oppression grew ever stronger, some among Tsuruhime's tribe turned to forbidden texts and dark rituals in a desperate bid for salvation. Ignorant of the dangers they unleashed, they tore open a portal to the void, unwittingly inviting in a horde of ravenous voidsent. The ensuing chaos was swift and merciless. Tsuruhime watched in horror as her tribe was slaughtered before her eyes, their pleas for salvation drowned out by the screams of the dying. In a desperate bid to escape the carnage, she threw herself into the voidsent portal, fleeing from the clutches of death. Emerging on the other side, Tsuruhime found herself in a nightmarish realm where the laws of reality seemed to twist and contort with each passing moment. Voidsent creatures prowled the darkness, their hunger for aether driving them to consume anything in their path. In this desolate realm, Tsuruhime's struggle for survival became a never-ending cycle of agony and torment. Consumed and reborn time and time again, the relentless suffering warped her mind and body, leaving her a mere shell of her former self. Cracks marred her once pristine arms, nails growing into to those of a monster. As the years stretched into eternity, Tsuruhime found herself succumbing to the same insatiable hunger that drove the voidsent. The line between predator and prey blurred until she could no longer distinguish herself from the monsters that haunted her nightmares. But even amidst the darkness, a flicker of humanity remained within her soul, a glimmer of hope that refused to be extinguished. With each passing day, Tsuruhime fought against the darkness that threatened to consume her, clinging to the memories of her tribe and the world she had lost. When she eventually was strong enough to fight her way to another void portal, she landed somewhere in the lands of Eozrea. Driven by a longing for home, Tsuruhime took the first sign of transportation that she saw, desperate to become immersed in the world that she had long forgotten.
