Blyssgeim Iyrnbaenwyn came into this world some thirty summers ago, the result of a tryst between Maelstrom captain turned barmaid, Keimrael Blanfyrwyn, and the notorious seafaring bard, Iyrnbaen Iyrnbaensyn. When she was two years of age, her mother married a fellow sailor named Bhaldskylt and gave birth to her younger brother Grymfalk, and the two were close.
The family grew up in Costa del Sol, then but a sleepy fishing village, and the young Blyss dreamed of sailing the seas just as her mother, her greatest hero, had done, alongside her younger brother and her best friend and neighbour, the Miqo'te L'hinari Vothe. She learned to hunt at a young age as most Sea Wolves do, and by the age of thirteen was working as a sellsword together with Grym. Her mother was widowed when Bhaldskylt fell overboard during a particularly violent storm, and Blyss, noticing her mother's misfortunes when it came to love, feared she would suffer a similar fate if she were to open her heart to another.
Her life was changed once more when one day her mother brought home a young girl she had met on the streets of Limsa Lominsa, dressed in rags - an Elezen mage by the name of Yloraine, who had stowed away on an airship after being disowned by her strict noble mother.
