A ball of mischief claiming descent from the Architekon of Amostra. With a thick accent, wild tales, and outlandish behavior, he might be telling the truth—or just a Lominsan powder boy with a vivid imagination and a speech impediment.
“Wadda mean; "Ye cannah savvy me"? Me beena taak een yerr Eorzean man tongue!"
-Xau'to “Xdaan” Zhwan to some hapless merchant.
HIS APPEARANCE
Xidaan, dear reader, is the epitome of pretty. He's the type of lad you'd expect to find adorning the covers of those melodramatic novels, the ones with titles like "Stormy Seas of Passion" or "Love's Tempestuous Gale," penned by authors who seem to have a special affinity for clichés to excite a teenage girl’s fever dream. The ones who's clearly never set foot on a boat but knows a thing or two about swoon-worthy descriptions. Picture this;
His skin bronzed by the sun, not from grueling labor but seemingly from casual flirtations with its rays. A skin so radiant that it quite literally sparkles under the moon's gaze as if he's been dusted with a generous sprinkle of fairy dust.
No, seriously, he sparkles in such a way that would make a vampire blush. Clearly done using glamour magic.
His dark hair that seems to shine with silver in the right light cascades like a waterfall with curls aplenty strategically obscuring one eye like a brooding hero a manner that would make a romance novel cover artist swoon.
Though there is more to our dear Xidaan for nestled within that unruly mass of locks, cleverly concealed from the casual observer, lie a pair of long adorned with long velveteen hair lagomorphic ears that, if not for his penchant for exaggerated expressions might have remained a hidden treasure.
His smoldering eyes that flicker between rose and burgundy, as if unsure whether to be romantic or mysterious. And in them holds an impish twinkle as if privy to some joke unknown.
He always seems to keep one eye obscured if not with his hair then expect him to use an eyepatch or a bandage.
And those lips? Well, let's just say they've inspired more than a few sonnets. And might have even tempted the most stoic of sailors to lean in for a smooch.
Let us not overlook another curious facet of Xidaan's mystique: concealed behind those seemingly perfect lips lie a set of teeth with a distinctly feline quality sharp and secretive, lending a hint of danger to his otherwise beguiling smile.
HIS AETHER
The color of his Aether is close to a sickly green. |
Xidaan's aether isn't a bottomless fountain that his, ahem, stamina, might lead one to believe. It is not so potent like a primal’s pool. Nor is it even so ample as to bring a machi magi to mussitate. No, his reserves are of an average or more. . .modest you could say. It is not exactly spilling from his seams, especially when he’s using a portion for. . .personal enhancements. But, he does have the uncanny ability to quickly and efficiently absorb (Absorb MP) radiant aether in areas that seem relatively brereft of the stuff. Even moreso in active combat zones. This does however leave him sensitive to heavy concentrations and can leave him in a state similar to confusion, inebriation or worse. Of the elements it seems to have a heavy leaning towards LEVIN.
HIS VOICE
One might imagine that such a visage would be accompanied by a voice as dulcet as a chorus of angels serenading a sunset or perhaps a voice of honey that drips from such alluring lips.. But alas, dear reader, let me shatter the illusion of Xi’s voice. Hear this;
More like a harpy on a bad day!
It's not that his vocal cords produce a sound akin to a cat being dragged across a chalkboard, oh no. Rather, it's the very essence of his speech that betrays him. While there's a certain lyrical quality, one that hints at a captivating singing voice, to his utterances, it's as if his voice has been marinated in a broth of salty sea air, pirate jargon, and the musings of those who've spent far too long on the high seas.
And if you're the scholarly sort, oh ho, prepare for a linguistic adventure! For amid the sea of slang, you might just unearth words so ancient their root stretch for centuries.
Add to this the fact that he speaks with the rapidity of a caffeinated parrot only adds to the confusion and you have a recipe for linguistic chaos. It's as if his words are in a race to escape his mouth, leaving listeners struggling to keep pace, like hapless sailors clinging to the rigging in an unending storm.
"De swit kylose fox jump obah de lazy dog? Ain got a clue wuffuh ye mek me say dat."

HIS PERSONALITY
Xidaan at first glance, he may appear reserved, even quiet. But peel back the layers, and you'll discover a vibrant soul pulsating with the energy of a parakeet. Growing up in the embrace of a bustling family and a tight-knit community, he's soaked up affection and camaraderie like a sponge, ready to wring it out in waves of warmth and companionship to those around him sometimes tooo much. Though part of that friendliness is obscured by the damn that is his accent, which may give him and others pause, but once its broken be prepared for a torrent of conversation that could rival a waterfall's flow.
As for his lineage, who knows if his claims of blue blood hold water? What's undeniable is his upbringing as the youngest in a brood of many, a position that's left him a tad spoiled even seeing the world through a lens of the protagonist of a storybook causing him to at times be a bit mischievous, a touch bratty and tad spoiled. It's this perspective that fuels his wanderlust, driving him headlong into adventures with the reckless abandon of a protagonist in search of their next chapter. And though his lack of self-preservation often leads him into perilous situations, Xidaan faces each challenge with the unwavering belief that, in the end, his story will be one worth telling.
His “Story”
Out-Of-Character
First and Foremost: I know for some the accent can be a bit much so if you're having trouble with it just ask. I tend to write what he says in plain English first before converting it, so it's generally not a chore to pass it along. But, if you need other accommodations just let me know.
Second and Secondly: Obligatory “Player is 21+”. I live in the CST time-zone, though because my schedule I'm generally a night owl. I do suffer from chronic pain, so there are times I might have to cut-thing short, but its given be the experience to know things in life happen so if RP ever has to be cut-short or cancelled I'm not one to hold it against anyone. I'm pretty much a laidback type of person so even if you don't want to RP I'm totally free with just having a chat. Also just because I'm not flagged up doesn't mean I'm not in the mood for RP if you fill up to hit just shoot me a whisper/tell and we can get things rolling.
Concerning Roleplay
| !!!SLOW TYPER ALERT!!!|
Type of Roleplay: I tend not to have a huge list ofpreferences for a type of roleplay. The main thing really tends to be story-driven, but it doesn't have to be much just a little bit of build-up. Context is key and helps characters get some chemistry. Outside of that it can be short-term, long-term, or even One-offs. I am open mature, dark, or even erotic themes. It can be Public, Whisper/tell, or Party.
Style of Roleplay: While I am open to all types of roleplay I would be remised if I didn't state that Xau/Xi/Teo is primarily a comic fantasy style of character. So, while there are certainly dark and mature themes in his story he's primarily written with humor in tone. Admittedly sophomoric at times and I do like my Woolseyisms (FF5 & FF9 being my favorite will probably explain a lot.) Lastly, I do tend to prefer paragraph-style roleplay, but it's not a requirement.
Concerning Lore
I understand that is not like a tabletop game and we're really not given a lot of the pieces of the puzzle and therefore have to make educated guesses and hope there aren't any crazy retcons. Therefore, I've nothing against bending lore. If it something reasonable done within the lore or using the lore and isn't far out there I've nothing against it. Heck even Xau/Xi/Teo's background plays with inference and lore bending, but it's also why've designed him to be an unreliable narrator for people who think it might go too far.
Ultimately I play Final Fantasy 14 for the story and the settling. I'm here for the JRPG goodness. I want that fantasy late medieval to turn-of-the-Century world meets Magitech. I don't want the silly second life modern day nonsense. If I wanted to do that I'd play Second Life or Champions or City of Heroes or something. So you can take your tomephone and dance/night clubs and keep me out of it.
OOC=/= IC Disclaimer
Lastly, I should make note that I'm a sane individual and can separate OOC from IC. For me roleplay is not vicariously living my life through my characters it is simply play acting. My characters can be radically different from me as an individual. So, unless something is brought up OOC I'm simply going to assume it is how a character is acting IC. If a character is acting annoyed or uncomfortable or angry I'm going to assume that is character and not the pilot unless it clearly brought up. So if you have a problem PLEASE bring it up OOCly so we can work it out like adults. I'm not one of those terminally online people that will create a google doc and make drama. If we don't mesh I am not gonna force it.
