appearance
Ollie is scrawny with lanky limbs and a thin frame. She has bright blue eyes and ashen blonde hair. Her face is dotted with freckles from her time spent in the sun. Ollie has an overbite; her buckteeth are prominent when she smiles. She is not a pureblooded Garlean, and therefore does not posses the third eye.
She prefers practical clothing that she can work in. Her outfits are often marked by grease and oil stains. Ollie loves wearing hats, her favorite one being her pilot's cap.
personality
Mischief and mayhem follow Ollie wherever she goes. She has an adventurous spirit marked by a streak of recklessness, making her quite a handful to deal with. To her goblin friends, this is just par for the course.
Despite her carefree nature, Ollie is very introspective and thoughtful. She believes that everyone has an obligation to put good into the world. With her shortened lifespan, she tries to make the best of every day she has left.
She loves to work with technology and metal. Due to her gifts with the Echo she is efficient at figuring out how object are meant to work, giving her an edge in her tinkering hobby. She uses her inventions to channel her excess aether into so as not to become dangerous.
background
Olivia and her brother, Xavier, were half-garlean identical twins born to Thaddeus nan Loren and their former pirate mother, Adelaide. When Adelaide died in childbirth, Thaddeus became cold and cruel, his children a reminder of everything he lost.
Thaddeus used his ease of access to Limsa’s black market of stolen Garlean technology to experiment on both of the twins throughout their childhood. This was an attempt to get back into Garlemald’s good graces. While Xavier had been born with the ability to manipulate aether, Olivia could not. Both of them, however, were born with the Echo. For Olivia, it manifested as a savant-like ability to work with machinery and take things apart.
When Olivia was 13, Thaddeus forced her to consume a corrupted lightning aspected energy crystal in an experiment, nearly killing her. Seeing what had been done to his sister, Xavier stabbed their father in the back in a drastic measure of self-defense. It was only through the power of the Echo that Olivia managed to live at all.
Though Olivia survived, her quality of life was greatly reduced. The Echo could only protect her for so long, and with nowhere for that aether to go, it would eventually kill her. Olivia’s aether builds up a charge. She is forced to release that aether or risks becoming dangerous not just to herself, but those around her. Her specialty is building constructs, and has a particular fondness for one such robot she channels aether into named Zapshocks.
Having gone to the local goblin population first in their search for a cure, Olivia immediately felt right at home with them. Xavier realized he needed more than what they could offer, and would eventually go on to get into the Sharlayan Studium. The goblins appreciated an uplander with shared expertise, and would bestow upon her the new name of Olliecogs Oilbots, which she uses with pride. She now travels to the best of her abilities, trying to see as much of the world as she can.
