A lively and caring woman, Ilakha was born of an Au Ra mother and a Viera father. After the razing of Rabanastre and then her mother's village, the infant girl was taken in by a Moks family, hidden within the Malqir. From there, she was raised alongside her older brother of seven turns, Sali . Their mother taught her the way of healing people, while their father taught her the way of healing beasts. Eventually, she found contact with her birth tribe again, the Tsaatan. Living in the Tail Mountains, they are beastmasters who specialize in taming reindeer.
From her grandmother's teachings, Ilakha harnessed these powers to use for those she finds especially endearing; vilekin. Seeking to give them a better reputation, she brings her 'ugly-cute' companions with her on her journey as a hunter-scholar. Now that she works with Clan Centurio, she finds herself paired with a colleague, Clydwyn . Together, they live aboard the Adamance, traveling with its captain Sjlfa and her daughter Bljn throughout the realm.
