I use an AU where BLM and WHM are more common, but it's optional in RP!
Plamtya was born in Limsa Lominsa. She lived with her tribe at first, but her mother moved to the city soon after her birth, tired of the patriarchal Seeker culture. Thus, she never really got to know her father and shed the traditional name, P'lamtya, for a more uniform name, just like her mother.
Due to her somewhat antisocial nature and disability, the young Miqo'te had few friends, but realized she didn't need many to be happy. With how widespread mail was, she found it relatively easy to communicate with everyone across the realm if she met a foreigner and she often stuck to the people not native to Limsa, as the bullying due to her disability dissuaded any further attempts of friendship with Lominsans her age.Eventually, the time came for her to be properly educated in an art, and Plamtya chose magic. She ended up moving to the forest city-state of Gridania with her mother, to try and find a better life and learn conjury. After joining the Conjurers' Guild, Plamtya came to really enjoy using the art of conjury to heal and help her allies,She ended up being introduced to thaumathurgy by a friend from Ul'dah. The concept of maintaining a balance of aetheric energy between Astral Fire and Umbral Ice fascinated her and she had to learn more, moving to Ul'dah temporarily to study thaumathurgy in more detail and becoming quite skilled at it.
She now practices both arts as needed and seeks to find the perfect balance between offense and defense on the battlefield.Despite practicing both thaumathurgy and conjury, Plamtya found herself drawn to Gridania and its Padjali keepers more than Ul'Dah. The politicking in the desert city-state was of some interest to her, but usually ended up being too tiresome. Still, as much as she loved the heat of the Sagolii Desert, nothing could compare to the beauty of Gridanian forests and the sounds of scuttling wildlife everywhere she went. Here, she could breathe and feel connected to the Elementals, even if some of them disapproved of her usage of fire and ice magics, she was sure. Not that any of them had ever spoken to her, she wasn't a Hearer or anything, just a white and black mage. A gray mage, she called herself humorously.
The White and Black Mage orders had recently been re-established, as the people's fear over the repeat of another War of the Magi waned. Both orders, working together with the Red Mage order, swore to uphold the balance of aetherical magics. Whether the peace would last, time would tell. Mixed practitioners, such as Plamtya, were frowned upon by the orders, who also deemed red magic too frivolous. But they wanted members and also wanted to convince those members that their order was in fact the correct choice. Plam, however, was having none of that. She simply liked healing too much to ever renounce it, and using fire and ice to protect herself, and her allies with damage, was a great boon too.
She currently resides in Gridania as a member of the Twin Adder, working to protect her home alongside her colleagues.
